Teaching Styles in College Geography

Abstract

Describes two basic teaching styles for college geography courses: discipline-centered teaching and student-centered teaching. Though the discipline-centered approach is dominant in geographical education today, a student-centered cognitive orientation would be more relevant and more helpful to the intellectual development of students.
