Abstract

(Marketwired - April 17, 2013) - WAM Development Group, a North American leader in commercial real estate development, in partnership with Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), one of Canada's largest institutional investment managers, is pleased to announce the completion and LEED(R) (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Canada certification of Stoney Warehouse 4 in the Stoney Industrial Centre. The project has been LEED(R) Core and Shell certified to a rating level of Silver by the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC), and is currently one of the largest LEED(R) certified industrial buildings in Canada.

"At WAM, we continually strive to set the standard for forward-thinking, environmentally-conscious developments that serve the needs of our tenants," said Tom Eger, Senior Vice President, Design and Construction, WAM Development Group. "LEED(R) buildings are internationally recognized as emblems of corporate responsibility, and we are proud to provide a verified sustainable and innovative environment for our tenants to conduct business in."

"Congratulations to WAM Development Group on the LEED Silver certification of Stoney Warehouse 4," said Thomas Mueller, President and CEO of the Canada Green Building Council. "Industrial type buildings make up a significant portion of our building stock, however, owners in this sector are lagging behind in achieving better environmental performance. By certifying this large building and working toward the certification of others in the same complex, WAM is setting an excellent example for the industry to follow."
