SATURDAY
Practical Magic
Go!, 8.20pm
Sandra Bullock may now be known for her Oscar-winning performance in The Blind Side, but before she took on more serious movies she was a stalwart of the chick-flick genre.
Practical Magic stars Bullock and Nicole Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens, sisters who are part of a long line of witches. As the elder, Sally is much more concerned with keeping her abilities secret from the judgmental townspeople, while Gillian is the wild, carefree younger sister always creating mayhem.
But when one of Gillian's lovers causes trouble and Sally takes measures to stop him hurting her sister, detectives begin investigating the strange family and the girls must work out how to balance their magical and normal lives.
It's a light, fun movie, but for anyone with sisters, it is a testament to what you will do to protect the ones you love.
SUNDAY
Kung Fu Changed My Life
SBS2, 6.30pm
How could you not be interested with a title like that? Part of SBS2's relaunch as a youth-oriented channel, this UK documentary follows Shaolin martial arts master Matthew Ahmet as he teaches a group of young kids the fine art of kung fu and how they can apply to their lives.
Born in London, before relocating to a Chinese monastery to follow a strict kung fu training regime for several years, Ahmet has returned to teach kids living in high crime and high violence areas how to channel their aggression into a more constructive form, build their confidence and hopefully learn some cool kung fu moves along the way.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
7mate, 9pm
John Connor continues to grow older and Sarah Connor continues to live, which the future evil corporation Skynet is not happy about.
When they send a new Terminator back to kill them, one who can morph into a liquid version of himself and take on different identities, future John Connor reprograms the first Terminator, obviously played by Arnie, to protect his younger self and his mother.
Chases ensue, explosions occur and we generally just watch Arnold be cool in sunglasses and leather. While he doesn't get as many good lines as he did in the first movie, I personally prefer the sequel because he is no longer the bad guy.
Caption: Arnold Schwarzenegger was never as cool as he was when he was a robot from the future.
