A 72-year-old woman developed metabolic acidosis due to 5-oxoproline acidaemia while receiving paracetamol [acetaminophen] and concomitant flucloxacillin [dosages not stated].
The woman, whose recovery from a fracture procedure was complicated by Staphylococcus aureus wound infection, started receiving IV flucloxacillin. She wad admitted to an ICU 3 weeks later with dyspnoea and metabolic acidosis.
