Abstract

This article presents a history of Turkish press in Romania analysing the Turkish newspaper entitled Türk Birligi. Dobrudja is the region of Romania where a significant Turkish-Tatar community has been living through the centuries. The first Turkish newspapers in Romania were published at the end of the XIXth century. Turkish press in Romania developed significantly until the beginning of the World War II. Following the establishment of the Communist regime in Romania, no Turkish newspaper was published. Türk Birligi, printed in 1930 and between 1934 - 1940, was one of the long-lasted Turkish newspapers in Romania. Issues such as the problems of Turkish society in Romania as well as the internal and foreign policies of Turkey and Romania were debated in Türk Birligi. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
