The submarine-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired on 20 March 2013 from a submerged platform in the Bay of Bengal offthe coast of Visakhapatnam. The missile took offvertically from the submerged platform, took a turn towards the designated target over 290 km away, and impacted the target as expected, meeting all mission objectives. All the telemetry and tracking stations, including Indian naval ships positioned throughout the flight path, confirmed the accuracy of the mission.
