Abstract
Macquarie has hired Edmund Leong as a managing director on its Asia capital markets team. Leong joined last week from the DCM origination desk at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.
At Macquarie, he will report to Stephen Panizza, head of debt capital markets for Asia. The pair have a history of working together as before joining BofA Merrill, Leong worked for Panizza at ING and ABN Amro.
The move follows others on BofA Merrill's DCM syndicate desk. Ashish Malhotra, former head of Asia Pacific debt syndicate and Hong Kong DCM, left in April, shortly after the bank hired Devesh Ashra and Hital Desai from Credit Suisse.

Leong leaves BofA Merrill after six and a half years. He will continue to be based in Hong Kong. A spokesperson at BofA Merrill declined to comment.

JP Morgan hires Paulus
Michael Paulus has taken on the role of managing director and head of public sector coverage for Asia Pacific at JP Morgan. He will be responsible for clients such as national governments, central banks and sovereign wealth funds in the region.
He joins from HSBC and will be based in Hong Kong, reporting to Daniel Zelikow, global head of public sector coverage and to Muhammad Aurangzeb, head of global corporate banking for Asia
Pacific.
Before working for HSBC, Paulus worked at Citi, also covering the public sector. He also held senior relationship management and market sales roles at Bank of America, Dresdner and First Chicago. He was also deputy assistant secretary for federal finance at the US Department of the Treasury and began his career at the US Federal Reserve.
Changwon Lee leaves JPM
Changwon Lee, an executive director at JP Morgan's Seoul office, has left to join Morgan Stanley. Lee will join as executive director in the summer and will focus on Korea DCM client
coverage.
Both Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan declined to comment.
StanChart adds to loans team
Michelle Khong has joined Standard Chartered as an associate director in the loan syndicate and distribution team.
Khong, who is based in Singapore, joins from Barclays, where she was part of the Asia Pacific loan syndicate group. She started her new position at Standard Chartered on June 5.
She will be reporting to Hong Kong-based Amit Lakhwani, who is the head of loan syndication and distribution for Asia.
