Abstract

Macquarie has hired Edmund Leong as a managing director on its Asia capital markets team. Leong joined last week from the DCM origination desk at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

At Macquarie, he will report to Stephen Panizza, head of debt capital markets for Asia. The pair have a history of working together as before joining BofA Merrill, Leong worked for Panizza at ING and ABN Amro.

The move follows others on BofA Merrill's DCM syndicate desk. Ashish Malhotra, former head of Asia Pacific debt syndicate and Hong Kong DCM, left in April, shortly after the bank hired Devesh Ashra and Hital Desai from Credit Suisse.
