Abstract

The study examines student learning outcomes as measured by the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE). Participants include 524 students from a counselor education program who completed one of three program modalities--online, on campus, and hybrid--and completed the CPCE. Participants' CPCE Total scores and eight subscale scores were analyzed using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to examine if significant differences existed between CPCE scores based on program modality. Significant results on the ANOVA indicate online students' scores on the CPCE Total score and five subscale scores were higher than the hybrid students' mean scores. Additional results included differences between the online group and on-campus group and the on-campus group and hybrid group on specific CPCE subscale scores.
