Abstract
Word emotion analysis is a basic process that recognizes emotions. Emotional words belonging to dialogs are classified into two classes-direct and potential emotion words. Direct emotion words can clearly express emotion, and potential emotion words may represent a certain emotion in a contextual manner. Thus, potential emotion words, unlike direct emotion words, are difficult to extract or precisely identify. In this paper, we propose a method for the extraction and identification of potential emotion words as well as direct emotion words based on WordNet. Potential emotion words can be extracted by measuring lexical affinity. We then consider the sense distance in order to minimize variations in meaning. Additionally, we suggest the maximum sense distance that limits searching space and can best extract the potential emotion words through experimentation.

1. Introduction
Emotion is a mental and psychological state associated with a wide variety of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors [15]. Humans express a variety of emotions with words in order to connote emotion, in addition to direct emotion words. For example, the sentence "I divorced my husband" contains the word "divorce", which includes emotion despite the lack of any direct reference to emotion. Similarly, the emotional state of the speaker may express the potential emotion words to express emotion without using direct emotion words. Therefore, it is necessary for the potential emotion words to be extracted and identified in order to determine the emotion of the speaker. However, as there are so many of these potential emotion words and they can indicate various meanings in different contexts, it is difficult to extract them from dialogs. Direct emotion words clearly indicate an emotion unrelated to contexts such as happiness, anger, sadness, etc. Various words beside direct emotion words can be applied to express emotions [1]. For example, the word "nightmare" can be used to express the emotion of "fear" on the part of the speaker. A word that indirectly expresses emotion even though it is not an obvious emotion word is a potential emotion word [1]. Such words can have several meanings or emotions in different contexts.
