Google Cloud Storage will now encrypt all data being written to disks, Google announced in a blog entry last Thursday. Not to be confused with the company's consumer-centric Google Drive, Google Cloud Storage is a commercial service that allows developers to store static files or data online much like Amazon's S3 service.
According to Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), the encryption feature is completely transparent, with no need for developers to modify their code or how they access the service. Data is automatically decrypted when read by an authorized user.
