Abstract: The purpose of the present paper is to identify how modern technology, especially digital equipment but also some concepts present in the modern battlespace at the beginning of XXI Century, such as Network Centric Operations (NCO), Effect Based Approach to Operations (EBAO) and Evidence Based Operations are influencing military leadership in combat.
I have based my present work on the Romanian Armed Forces Transformation postulate that "re-dimensioning the decision making process, based on information superiority and the implementation of effect based operations concept, using network enabled capabilities is considered the key transformational element, communication systems playing here a decisive role".
I analyzed the available information and personal experiences at the unclassified level to try to identify trends and ways to correct the negative influence that I believe technology has on sound leadership in the battlespace of XXI Century. I tried to identify ways and means to train the future leaders in using the available military technology and knowledge, both the hardware and the software in such a way that the basic principle of leadership in combat - "Follow me" is still applied.
In my paper I concluded that modern military leaders have to be highly trained in scientific domains and versatile in thinking in order to lead effectively and successfully.

The appearance of new technologies and new communication forms and means changed our personal lives and the world we are living in. Called informational society or networked society, the XXI Century society is drastically influenced by the existence of various networks, which are connecting people in many different ways. Millions of messages, more or less important, are running permanently through the World Wide Webb and are landing on our computers or digital phones mailboxes, requiring immediate action and reaction.
In the military domain, digital images produced by mass-media in various theaters of operations and disseminated much faster than any official military report, can generate political and social changes.
