ABSTRACT
Contemporary reality illustrates the depth and amplitude of the natural-human crisis of the actual pattern of development. In this moment our planet is under an unprecedented stress, and the product and consume patterns, which we used are no longer sustainable. Given this context, it is necessary to orient ourselves to a green economy addressed in the context of sustainable development, this being also one of the most complex objectives today for the mankind. The green economy is part of the broader concept of sustainable development, which does not replace it, but only provides a bridge to a sustainable development. Considering the fact that the transition to a green economy requires a substantial increase of the investment in the economic sectors, we intend to illustrate some of the major steps taken in this regard, as well as the manner in which the progress of these transitions can be highlighted.

INTRODUCTION
At this stage it is unlikely that the current economic models to allow us to achieve multiple globally objectives regarding the environment. After almost 20 years since Rio, it was concluded that to be prepared for the global challenges we face we need a more evolved economic model to be able to prosper in the next years.
The initiative for the development of a Green Economy, launched in 2008 by UNEP, it was necessary to inform the governments about two unique opportunities. The first one regarded environmental investments, necessary for reviving the global economy and increasing the capacity of liability to environmental challenges. Secondly, a green economy can provide jobs, successfully addressing the global inequalities and persistent poverty. Also, it constitutes an excellent response to the ecological deficit reduction and climate risks.
Green economy has quickly evolved from the theoretical and global aspect to a practical and national one. Green economy promotes the idea of green investments. In making a green economy, an important role comes to decision makers at a state level, because its implementation depends largely on them.
The transition to a green economy is a challenge. There are a large number of countries that have achieved a high level of development, but this was achieved at the expense of protecting and preserving...
