And the winners are...O. Mason Hawkins and Staley Cates, of Longleaf, Morningstar's domestic-stock fund managers of the year. The International stock fund winner was David Herro, of Oakmark International. Jeffrey Gundlach of the TCW Total Return Bond was named fixed-income fund manager of the year. They all get high marks for performance, of course. But there are other reasons to be impressed. Longleaf, for example, is an exemplar for good governance. Perhaps even more impressive, Herro has invested $1 million of his own money in each of his funds, a really good way to let the world know he is aligned with his customers. Gundlach's fund is low cost and available to people with as little as $2,000.
