Green building is all the craze right now, and Goldman Sachs is one of the leaders . Fortune reports that the bank's Jersey City office tower is the largest building to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. And it is striving for much the same with its planned $2.4 billion headquarters in Manhattan. Not intimidated, other banks are aiming to outgreen Goldman. Bank of America and JP Morgan are apparently going all out to one-up their rival. But the real standout, according to the magazine, may be an unknown: Banner Bank, especially its regional offices out in Boise, Idaho. This is all good business--the savings are there and the returns are documentable. It's also great PR.
