Rethinking Information Literacy is a practical guide to a new framework for information literacy, stemming from a research base.
The 10 stranded information literacy framework (A New Curriculum for Information Literacy: ANCIL) was developed in the UK as a result of research conducted by editors Secker and Coonan through the Arcadia Project at the University of Cambridge. The project was driven by a concern that young people are taking a "cut and paste" approach to information use, and are often reluctant to question material in an overloaded environment.
