NEW YORK - For Joe's Pub, a 200-seat performance venue at the Public Theater named after the theater's founder, Joe Papp, Acme Professional provided a d&b audiotechnik system. The unique design makes use of 10A, 10AL-D, E8, 18S-SUB and 12S-D components.
Papp, whose lifelong commitment to both Shakespearean classics and experimental theatre began with the establishment of the Shakespeare Workshop in 1954, saw his visions for free Shakespeare productions in Central Park take root in the early 1960s and a year-round hothouse for radical new works begin with the first production of the iconoclastic rock musical Hair at the newly-opened Public Theater in 1967.
Exemplifying Papp's passion for both the traditional and the new, the Public Theater's building was the former Astor Library. As one of New York's first buildings to be awarded landmark status, it was rescued from demolition the 1960s, and Papp was able to use it for...
