Mae has been appointed for the second phase of the regeneration at Brentford Lock in West London
The scheme for developer ISIS Waterside Regeneration includes 140 new homes within four-bedroom townhouses, a one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.
The project forms part of the 44,500m² masterplan for the site next to the Grand Union Canal drawn up by Swedish urban designers Tovatt, Klas Tham and Urbed.
The 520-home first phase of the development, designed by Karakusevic Carson, Riches Hawley Mikhail and Duggan Morris is set to complete in 2015.
Mae's proposals will be submitted for planning in the coming weeks. The architect's view
The scheme draws its inspiration from the broader context. Six pavilion buildings have distinct roof forms that make reference to the neighbouring wharf architecture. Terraces of town houses and inhabited bridges link the pavilions and enclose a resident garden.
Our scheme will sit alongside buildings by some of our most respected contemporaries in an area rich in architectural history. The Butts, a street and square of red brick houses from the 1680s contribute to this being one of the most attractive settings in West London. Our scheme will reference the history whilst adding to the industrial canal-side heritage of this area of West London.Previous story (AJ 25.04.12)Emerging trio submits plans for Brentford Lock West
