Soros Fund Management LLC significantly increased its position in American International Group Inc. during the second quarter, catapulting AIG to the firm's second-largest financial institution holding.
According to Soros' second-quarter 13F filing, the firm owned approximately 1.8 million AIG shares at June 30 -- a position valued at $98.4 million. By comparison, Soros owned 45,000 shares at March 31.
