Abstract

With the push of Microsoft to depreciate and make obsolete their older products, this places pressure on companies and developers to constantly develop from scratch on a newer platform. This construct is not always financially feasible and generally avoided by many companies. As the technology grows older with lacking in primary development, availability of newer techniques and technological advances becomes farther out of reach.

This project provides a basis for upgrading Legacy Visual Basic Projects to those found in later versions of Visual Studios based on the .NET Framework. The upgrading process involves evaluating the technologies available with the older VB and translating them accordingly. While this is not possible with all technologies since some have been removed, the overall goal is to translate the legacy project in such a way that its integral functionality is maintained.
