Chef Nigel Slater and long-term business partner and producer James Thompson have launched a factual indie.
The duo have established London- based Sloe Films and begun work on a slate of food-focused factual formats.
The British chef said the indie's aim was to create and produce "high-quality programmes that deliver both entertainment and documentary".
The intention is to work with the same group of producers, directors, cameramen and editors they have collaborated with in recent years. "We want to work with a small, tightly focused team making the sort of television we would like to sit and watch ourselves. [Programmes that are] not only warm and entertaining but also inspirational and educational," Slater said.
Last month, Broadcast revealed that Sloe Films' first commission is Eating Together, a 6 x 60-minute BBC1 series it is making in association with Tigress Productions.
In the show, Slater will visit British immigrant communities from places such as Iraq, Poland, Thailand and Uganda to uncover variations on classic British dishes.
Slater has worked with Thompson for the vast majority of his TV career, on shows such as Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers and Nigel Slater's Dish Of The Day.
