Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU), a private, not-for-profit, non-sectarian, minority-serving medical and health sciences institution, invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost/Executive Vice-President for Academic Affairs. CDU serves as the only academic health sciences center for the 1.5 million residents of South Central Los Angeles and is recognized as a Historically Black Graduate Institution (HBGI) and is also a charter member of the Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools.
CDU boasts almost $20 million in federal funding and net assets of over $92 million. The current endowment assets from research are over $70 million and the important work done by CDU researchers brings attention to health issues and diseases that disproportionally affect minorities and the poor. Since the University was incorporated in 1966 out of the ashes of the Watts Riots, CDU has produced thousands of diverse healthcare leaders by graduating more than 2500 physicians, physician assistants and other health professionals.
