Abstract

[...]in spite of the implications for the novel of Harron's adaptation, recent scholars continue to minimise the effect of the four scenes. [...]for most scholars it is as if the problematic scenes do not exist. [...]the important political issue of the representation of sexualised misogynistic violence, the "debate" Wolf refers to, is completely absent from recent scholarship which argues the scenes are part of the novel's postmodernity and claims that they are either fantasies, because Bateman is an unreliable narrator, or that they are textual appropriations.
