We don't have to wait long, thankfully. But, while the Joe Miller verdict comes almost instantly, it makes the rest of the episode rather tricky to discuss prior to transmission. Suffice to say that, guilty or not guilty, the town of Broadchurch was always likely to be left in disarray by the jury's decision - and so it comes to pass. The ensuing chain of events may cause those infuriated by the series' flimsy adherence to legal procedure to spontaneously combust with outrage, but the climax at least gives several of the consistently excellent cast one last showcase; while implausible, it is pure, turbo-charged dramatic catharsis.
