Just as uncertainties in a given environment can threaten the peace or existence of individuals within that environment, so also do business organizations become apprehensive about uncertainties in their operating environment. The environments of a business are numerous ranging from political, economic, sociological, technological, cultural, and legal among others and can be classified as placid, randomized and turbulent. This paper examines the environmental correlates of publicly-owned organizational performance in Nigeria with the aim of determining the relationships that may exist between these organizations and their environments. The aim is to show the implications of these relationships with the overall organizational performance and to develop a mediating trajectory through which organizational success can be attained through the application of the research integrative 'Trilogy Model of Organizational Success (TMOS). The methodology adopted for the study was the use of a descriptive survey method. Structured questionnaire was administered to 500 middle and senior management staff of 5 publicly-owned organizations in Nigeria. The study adopted the use of Cronbatch Alpha Co-efficient(...) to test the reliability of the internal consistency of the inter-item research variables while the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient (r) and the t-Test were used to test the two research hypotheses propounded. The results showed t.^sub cal^. scores of 31.649 and 59.862 a s against the critical t.^sub tab^. value of 1.653 compared at 207degree of freedom, respectively. Our P-value is significant at 0.000 for one-tailed. i.e. p<0.0001. Which means that t ≠ 0 and t ≥ 1. This led to the rejection of two 'null' hypotheses. The study found that, top-management decision-making highly influenced the non-adoption of technological changes and responsible for poor management of cultural influences, and moderated their associations with leadership style and organizational performance. Hence, the study proposed the adoption of the 'Trilogy Model of organizational Success as a mediating trajectory for effective management of public sector organizations in Nigeria.
