Abstract

In 2013, the centre was awarded the Award of Architectural merit from the City of Rimouski in the "commercial, industrial or institutional building" category, as well as an OCTAS award, in the category of "infrastructure for a company with 3,000 or more employees." TELUS was also a finalist for the Uptime Institute's "Green Enterprise IT" award for facility design innovation.

TELUS' data centre in Rimouski is TELUS' second in Canada to be awarded LEED Gold certification, preceded by the company's Laird facility in Toronto. TELUS is also pursuing LEED certification for its recently-completed facility in Kamloops, B.C. Other TELUS buildings have received LEED certification in recent years, including TELUS House in Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec City. In keeping with its commitment to sustainability, TELUS is also seeking LEED certification for all new construction projects, including two developments that are targeting LEED Platinum in Vancouver and Calgary.

In support of our philosophy to give where we live, TELUS, our team members and retirees have contributed more than $396 million to charitable and not-for-profit organizations and volunteered and more than 6 million hours of service to local communities since 2000. Created in 2005 by Executive Chairman Darren Entwistle, TELUS' 11 community boards across Canada have led the company's support of grassroots charities and will have contributed $47 million in support of 3,700 local charities organizations by the end of 2015, enriching the lives of more than two million Canadian children and youth. TELUS was honoured to be named the most outstanding philanthropic corporation globally for 2010 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, becoming the first Canadian company to receive this prestigious international recognition.
