Ignore those layoffs--tech sector doing OK, says CompTIA
In the wake of month after month of dramatic layoff coverage in the information technology industry, one can be forgiven to assume the sector is seeing hard times. As FierceCIO recently reported, even hiring in the tech sector is half that of the overall workforce. Still, according to industry association CompTIA, its "IT Industry Business Confidence Index for the fourth quarter of 2014 rebounded to reach its high point for the year, with all three index components recording modest gains," a press announcement on the association site noted. The index reflects the opinion of executives at technology companies on the U.S. economy overall, as well as their own company in it. The CompTIA take is that the industry is rebounding nicely now and hiring will increase over the next few years.
