Amber Capital, the New York and London-based equity and event-driven hedge fund firm founded in 2001 by Joseph Oughourlian, has converted its four-year-old domestic Italian equity fund to comply with the UCITS format.
Amber Italia Equity has changed its name to the Amber Equity Fund, and is running on the London-based Alpha UCITS platform that was set up in 2009 by former Brevan Howard Asset Management partner Stephane Diederich.
Amber Equity is managed out of Milan by Amber Capital Italia SGR, an asset management company regulated by the Bank of Italy. Portfolio manager Giorgio Martorelli will continue to steer the fund in its new UCITS format, which debuted on 2 October.
