STELLA LIVES ALONE in her own home. She is 87 years old. Her husband has been dead for 27 years. There are no children, but she has many nieces and nephews. One niece and her husband are veiy helpful when there are needs around the house. Stella says they think she is "too independent," and she knows she is.
Fourteen years ago she spent three months in the hospital with a heart condition. She had just sold her large home and was building a "smaller one." By traditional standards, her house is not small - seven rooms and three baths; she is still living in this one-floor home. It is veiy lovely.
I was recently invited there for lunch. I am a new acquaintance and was included with six other ladies. Stella served a beautiful lunch. She does have cleaning help, but otherwise...
