As a boy, Ara Paiaya was obsessed with martial arts and Jackie Chan was his biggest inspiration.
He spent hours training and trying to recreate the moves of his screen hero.
Now he has turned that childhood obsession into a full-time career in film-making, even persuading Hollywood A-listers Mickey Rourke, Daryl Hannah and Michael Madsen to star in his latest project.
A Hitman in London, an actionpacked crime-thriller set amid the world of human trafficking, is Ara's eighth film.
And as well as writing, producing, directing and acting in it, he has put those early years of training to good use by doing his own stunts.
Ara, 37, who grew up in Aberdeen, said: "I've done independent movies but this is my first big Hollywood film. It's in a different league.
"In LA, people can see if someone is serious about what they want to do and once the script is read, it's like a chain reaction.
"This all started over the phone then I had face-to-face meetings.
