Abstract

This article is focused on the ways in which young people understand, create space and perceive their identities and themselves. It draws on space/identity theories, reconceptualises issues, highlights definitions and introduces into focus the meanings of space and identity. The first half of this study introduces the interpretation of space from a socio-cultural approach by focusing on the thoughts of Rob Shields, Henry Lefebvre, Marc Auge. The second half of the study -- based on anthropological interviews -- presents the socio-spatial processes of young people, the spatial realization of processes discovered by the relevant theories.
