A Dictionary of Education is part of the Oxford Paperback Reference series, also available online as Oxford Quick Reference, a collection of 120 subject dictionaries providing concise and authoritative resources for students, researchers, professionals and the general reader. The editor of this Dictionary is Susan Wallace, Emeritus Professor of Education at Nottingham Trent University, who is the author of a number of books for teachers, including Teaching, Tutoring and Training in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Wallace, 2011) and The A-Z Guide to Working in Further Education (Gravells and Wallace, 2013).
This reference work, now in its second edition and previously reviewed in these columns in its first edition (RR 2009/214), covers pre-school, primary, secondary, further and higher education, special needs, adult and continuing education and work-based learning. The Dictionary begins with a helpful list of abbreviations relevant to the field.
