ARIZONA
Beckman & Kunkin to join Eide Bailly
Details: Top 100 Firm Eide Bailly plans to merge in Arizona CPA firm Beckman & Kunkin on November 2.
Beckman & Kunkin shareholders Howard Beckman, Adam Kunkin and the rest of their team will join Eide Bailly and continue to operate from their Scottsdale location under the Eide Bailly name, raising Eide Bailly's Arizona staff count to 72. Eide Bailly clients in the region will now be served by two locations in the Phoenix metro area.
Beckman said that his firm looked seriously at combining with several other firms, but Eide Bailly stood out as the best fit from a cultural standpoint.
Adding Beckman & Kunkin will strengthen Eide Bailly's commitment to being a top accounting firm in the region, according to Andy Spillum, partner-incharge of the firm's Phoenix office.
CANADA
Meaden & Moore merges with LBC International Investigative Accounting
Details: Meaden & Moore has signed a strategic agreement with LBC International Investigative Accounting Inc., uniting Meaden & Moore's Investigative Accounting Group and its 11 U.S. offices and 70-member staff with LBC's four Canadian offices and 25-member staff.
In addition to expanded geographic coverage, the firms will be able to increase their depth and level of expertise in various industry niches.
As part of the agreement, the Canadian firm will change its name to LBC Meaden & Moore International while the U.S. firm will remain Meaden & Moore.
"The firms have worked together during the past two years through our U.K. partnership, and it became apparent we should be working much more closely in North America," said Meaden & Moore CEO James Carulas in a statement.
Both firms provide forensic accounting and litigation support services to insurance providers, legal counsel and government agencies. They specialize in measuring the value of economic damages in legal disputes, insurance claims and business valuations.
LOUISIANA
LaPorte to add fifth office with merger
Details: Top 10 Gulf Coast Regional Leader LaPorte CPAs announced that it will merge with Beyer, Stagni & Co., effective December 1.
The combined firm will operate under the LaPorte name, with Beyer Stagni's Houma office becoming LaPorte's fifth location, joining offices in Metairie, Covington and Baton Rouge, and Houston.
