Federico Arcos passed away on May 26, 2015, at the age of 94. Federico became an apprentice mechanic in Spain at age 13 and joined the CNT in 1934. He was a member of the FIJL or "Libertarian Youth," one of the "Quijotes del Ideal" affinity group which included Diego Camacho, Jose Baje and Germinal Gracia Ibar (Victor Garcia). He grew up with and remained a comrade of Diego Camacho, aka "Abel Paz," the biographer of Durutti and historian of the Spanish Revolution. Federico and the "Quijotes" group were opposed to anarchists and CNT leaders joining the government in 1936.
Arcos fought in the anarchist militias on the Aragon front and Winter escaped to France at the end of the Spanish Civil War to avoid im- prisonment by Franco. Fie was one of several young anarchists who returned to Spain after World War II to support the underground resistance, which was met...
