Doctoraatsopleidingen in Nederland en Vlaanderen / Doctoral programs in the Netherlands and Flanders

Abstract

Het eerste Symposium van dit kalender-jaar (Res Publica, 2015/1) stond in het teken van de internationalisering van het politicologisch onderwijs, met name de bachelor- en masteropleidingen (bama). Gelijkenissen en verschillen tussen Ne-derland en Vlaanderen kwamen aan bod, alsook de groeiende internationalisering onder invloed van onder meer het weten-schappelijk onderzoek en de aansluiting op een academische loopbaan. Het logisch vervolg hierop is na te gaan hoe het met de impact van de internationalisering van het onderzoek en de academische loop-baan zit na het bama-onderwijs. Dit Sym-posium focust dus op de doctoraatsop-leiding in Nederland en Vlaanderen. Van een Europees uniform systeem (Bologna-derdecyclusonderwijs) is vooralsnog geen sprake, maar de weg daarnaartoe is reeds ingeslagen, zoals u verder kan lezen. Uiter-aard wordt uitgebreid stilgestaan bij de op-zet en de organisatie van een doctoraats-opleiding en de verschillen ten noorden en ten zuiden van de Belgisch-Nederlandse grens. Naast de klassieke evenwichten (geografi e en gender) wordt de doctoraats-opleiding vanuit drie standpunten belicht: de organisator van de doctoraatsopleiding, de promotor en de doctorandus/a.Bas Denters en Maurits Sanders van de Universiteit Twente bijten de spits af. Zij beschrijven de rol van het Netherlands Institute of Government (NIG) binnen de doctoraatsopleiding van politicologen en bestuurskundigen. Binnen het NIG is Bas Denters wetenschappelijk directeur en Maurits Sanders zakelijk directeur. Daarnaast is Bas Denters gewoon hoog-leraar bestuurskunde aan het Departe-ment Bestuurskunde van de Universiteit Twente. Maurits Sanders is als associate lector governance verbonden aan Saxion. Daarna werpt Trui Steen haar licht op de doctoraatsopleiding. Zij schrijft vanuit het standpunt van de promotor en heeft daarmee ervaring in Nederland en Vlaan-deren. Trui Steen is halftijds hoofddocent ‘bestuurlijke organisatie van de overheid’ aan het Instituut voor de Overheid van de KU Leuven. Daarnaast is ze halftijds hoofddocent ‘vergelijkende bestuurskun-de’ aan de Universiteit Leiden. In 2014 won zij de NIG Supervisory of the Year Award. Luzia Helfer sluit af. Ook zij heeft een dubbele affi liatie en kan daardoor putten uit haar eigen praktijkervaring. Luzia Helfer is doctoraatsstudente aan de Universiteit Antwerpen en de Universiteit Leiden. Bovendien is ze van nationaliteit Zwiters en volgde ze de research master aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Dat maakt haar samen met de andere gast-auteurs tot een geknipt panel voor dit Symposium.

The first symposium of this calendar year (Res Publica, 2015/1) was marked by the internationalization of political science education, particularly the bachelor and master (bama). Similarities and differences between Ne-Netherlands and Flanders were discussed, as well as the growing internationalization as a result of, inter alia, know-scientific research and connection to an academic career. The logical next step is to assess how it is with the impact of the internationalization of research and academic course-bama job after education. This SYM Symposium therefore focuses on the doctorate pipeline in the Netherlands and Flanders. Of a uniform European system (Bologna third cycle education) is as yet no question, but the road towards it has already taken, as you can read on. Utter earth is elaborated on the up move and the organization of a doctoral degree and the differences north and south of the Belgian-Dutch border. In addition to classic equilibria (Geografi e and gender) the doctoral training from three points of view is illuminated: the organizer of the doctoral program, the supervisor and the PhD student/Bas Denters and Maurice Sanders of the University of Twente bite off the striker.
