A specialty doctor in anaesthetics who justified her unsafe methods by telling concerned colleagues that this "was how she practised in Spain" has been struck off by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.
Maria Esther Ramos De Los Santos, who trained in Spain, was found to have provided substandard care to 10 different patients at Hillingdon Hospital, west London, in 2011. Her failings alarmed colleagues and supervisors, leading to her removal from the obstetrics on-call rota.
