Master totem pole carver remembered for healing community
When Stan Marsden's son died of a cocaine overdose and became another victim in a string of substance-abuse deaths on Prince of Wales Island back in the 1990s, the Tsimshian master carver turned to his passion to fight the tragedy. He disappeared under a tarp next to downtown Craig's shop and spent days chipping away at a 461/2-foot length of yellow cedar.
