Most of us know the importance of keeping in shape and maintaining normal blood pressure. Blood Pressure Companion is a free app designed to help people do this by tracking their blood pressure, heart rate and weight.
The user enters their recent systolic and diastolic readings and the information is then translated into a graph, enabling them to track any increases or decreases. The app also calculates mean arterial pressure.
With blood pressure cuffs available relatively cheaply in pharmacies, more people are able to monitor their heart health. This app allows users to track their progress, and alongside regular visits to the practice nurse, can inform them about their blood pressure and what a normal range for them should be.
This could also be a useful tool for health professionals trying to highlight the benefits of a healthy lifestyle to patients, and the positive effects of changes to diet and exercise. It could also allow community nurses to see a patient's average readings and how they differ when they are injured or ill.
It is available free on iOS, so why not take a look?
