The 7th Toy Theatre Festival June 10-June 19, 2005 was held at St Ann's Warehouse, Brooklyn, New York. The Brooklyn venue is the fourth location for the festival which began in 1993. It was curated and hosted by GREAT SMALL WORKS: John Bell, Trudi Cohen, Stephen Kaplin, Jenny Romaine, Roberto Rossi, and Mark Sussman. In July, at the Festival in St. Paul, The Puppeteers of America presented the Jim Henson Award for Innovation to the company, for establishing the Toy Theatre Festival and for its work in revitalizing, performing and promoting toy theatre.
The Temporary Toy Theatre Museum, curated by Alessandra Nichols, exhibited the atres by nearly 100 artists. With programs, workshops, special events and performances the festival included over 25 events for audiences to enjoy.
Six international presentations included
Palestinian National Theater, East Jerusalem, Jerusalem and the Little Prince by Abd El Salam Abdo and Mahmoud Hadyeh and musicians Wa'il Abu Saloum and Mohammed Hadeeb. A little prince arrives, poor and alone, in the Old City of Jerusalem and finds new friends and rich cultures coexisting within its walls.
