A 52-year-old woman developed amlodipine poisoning, sepsis, septic shock, polyneuromyopathy and multiple organ failure following suicide attempt by amlodipine overdose [time to reactions onset not stated and not all outcomes stated].
The woman took overdose of amlodipine 200mg sustained-release in a suicide attempt [route not stated]. On 03 January 2015, she developed pronounced general weakness and heart palpitation for which she was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia and was treated with propranolol. On the next day, she collapsed and was admitted with a lack of urine for 2 days, frequent watery stools during the previous week and vomiting of consumed liquids upto 3-4 times a day. Upon admission the observed condition was very serious and the skin was pale, dry, with soft tissue oedema. When conscious, she was very sluggish.
