GRASSLEY, WARREN INTRODUCE BILL TO LOOSEN FDA OVERSIGHT OF HEARING AIDS

Abstract

The proposed bill will direct FDA to create a distinct class of OTC hearing aids within three years of the bill's enactment; remove the medical evaluation requirement to obtain an OTC hearing aid; require FDA to issue regulations on the safety and labeling requirements of these devices; and require FDA update its 2013 guidance, according to the sponsors.
