Abstract

Telefónica Europe is all the talk of Europe. Under the O2 brand, the company provides mobile, fixed-line, and Internet service to more than 55 million customers in the UK, Ireland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Its O2 UK subsidiary is a leading mobile phone operator and broadband provider in the UK, with more than 22 million customers. Telefónica Europe also encompasses O2 Germany (23 million customers) and O2 Ireland (1.7 million). The company also owns 50% of the Tesco Mobile joint venture business in the UK and Ireland, the Tchibo Mobilfunk joint venture in Germany, and Manx Telecom, an Isle of Man-based fixed-line and mobile operator. Telefónica Europe is a subsidiary of Spain's Telefónica.
