Despite its connections to the Republican Party, Tuttle-Click Automotive Group does sell cars to Democrats. The firm operates a dozen new- and used-car dealerships throughout Orange County, California, and in Pima County, Arizona. The firm's dealerships sell Dodge, Ford, Hyundai, Jeep, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury, Mitsubishi, and Nissan branded cars and trucks. The company was founded by Holmes Tuttle in 1946, who sold Ronald Reagan a car and ended up a prominent GOP fundraiser; he even persuaded Reagan to run for governor of California in 1966. Tuttle's son, Robert Tuttle, co-managed the business with CEO James Click until he was appointed US ambassador to Great Britain in 2005.
