Abstract
A 56-year-old woman without previously reported risk factors associated with neurotoxicity presented with bilateral carpoptosis, weakness in the musculus extensor muscles of all fingers, and numbness in the space between the thumb and index finger on both hands. If fluoroquinolone-associated peripheral neuropathy is suspected, we suggest immediate withdrawal of drug therapy and the use of alternative antibacterials not known to cause major neurotoxic effects, such as clindamycin and vancomycin [5].
