[...]herniation may be asymptomatic, but quite frequently it is associated with pain, local tenderness, and even ischemic incarceration. Surgical exploration revealed a gangrenous lobule of deep subcutaneous fat, 6 mm in diameter, which had protruded through a small opening in the superficial fascia of Scarpa, where it had become strangulated.
