This is Morning Edition. I'm Bob Edwards. The first Latino in this century to serve on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will be Gloria Molina. Molina, who is a Los Angeles City councilwoman, defeated
State Senator Art Torres in a special election yesterday. The balloting was the result of court proceedings that began more than two years ago and proved that the all-white all-male county Board of Supervisors intentionally discriminated against Latino voters. More from NPR's Ina Jaffe.
