PETER CAVE: Queensland farmers are waking to new laws that stop them clearing mature bushland on their properties, and they're furious.
The State Government gave them two years to get used to the changes, but they say it's been a shambles, with farmers rushing to clear land before the ban came into place.
But the Premier Peter Beattie has described the new laws as having world significance, and says it will be the single greatest contribution to reducing Australia's greenhouse gas emissions.
