ABSTRACT
Lean thinking represents a set of principles and techniques for the identification and elimination of waste in manufacturing and administrative processes. The lean journey typically begins with awareness and education on lean principles, applying 5S, and value stream mapping techniques, but over time, organizational constraints will create barriers to achieving a truly lean enterprise. Improvements in processes, facility layouts, and managerial spans of control encourage redefining an organization's hierarchy and adopting a value stream management system. The health functions of medical care management requires organizing, coordinating, planning and staffing for providing the best of healthcare to people in a cost-effective manner. The knowledge creation lead to Continuous Improvements and thereby leading to Competitive Advantage to the organization. The newer techniques such TQM which are people participative activism along with appreciative inquiry formed with small number of clique working at same work area or cross functional teams with members from different work areas connected with each other through process linkage, are the contributors to this chain of development. The Market orientation to manage business performance from customer segmentation allows to help on technical skills impartially and to evaluate the best approach for the organization. A built-in vertical solutions allows to accelerate solution delivery and provide functional leadership, while the customer relationship management (here the patient and others) include objective, funds, deductions, promotions, and retail account execution to the best possible way while providing the life support. Implementing High performance work system (HPWS) with collection of tools such as Kanban (Bin System), Kaizen (Continuous improvements System), TQM (Total Quality Management System), Five S (House Keeping System) and Six Sigma (Quality enhancement System). These tools have to be internalized into an integrated composite system to solve problems of an organization. Medical care organizations need to understand the link between the operational level and the strategic level in order to apply the right tools and strategies to provide customer value, and to take optimal advantage of their goal alignment with the development of structural variables over time. The variables in social gap mapping are to be rectified with technology support leading to a phenomenal change and reach.
