TELECOMWORLDWIRE-16 February 2000-Motorola launches WAP-enabled GSM tri-band phone (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http:// www.m2.com Motorola has unveiled what it claims to be the first ever WAP-enabled GSM tri-band mobile phone. Called the Motorola Timeport P7389, the 108g-phone can be used on GSM networks both when travelling in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia (900/1800 MHz) and in the Americas (1900MHz), where roaming agreements are in place. Users can also access the Internet and their company's intranet via the phone, checking e-mails and useful data, such as train timetables, weather conditions and traffic congestion. Other features include speaker dependent voice activation, infrared (IrDA) support, a built-in modem, a digital voice recorder for recording of up to three minutes of conversation and a vibrating call alert option.
