Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 is the latest incarnation of this alternative offering to Microsoft Office. Based around the still popular WordPerfect word processing package, Corel is going head-to-head with Microsoft in sticking as much as it can into one package. Unfortunately - I do question the usefulness of this on the whole. As a key WordPerfect advocate (it is, after all, my word processor of preference), I am keen to see the package grow and develop but I do worry about all of the other stuff being added into the suite. If you are a small business, however, the suite is great value as you get a database, spreadsheet, web development stuff and a whole lot more - and it can all be linked together. The new version of the suite also came with Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition software - which explains in part the heftier-than-expected price tag. But onto the important stuff.
