TELECOMWORLDWIRE-3 January 2001-Intel introduces portable audio player (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com Intel Corp has launched a portable digital audio player that offers up to four hours of music programming and more than 20 hours of spoken word audio. The Intel Pocket Concert Audio Player, which is housed in a brushed aluminium case, weighs less than four ounces and is small enough to fit inside a shirt pocket. The device is powered by two AAA batteries enabling the player to deliver about ten hours of continuous playback. Initially the player will support the MP3 and WMA music formats but its firmware is re-programmable permitting compatibility with future music file formats and music purchased over the Internet. Other features include 128Mb of memory, a USB connection, an FM radio and intuitive software to help users access, manage and listen to music. The audio player can be used with the optional Intel Audio Accessory Kit which includes a home stereo dock and car audio adapter. Both The Intel Pocket Concert Audio Player and The Intel Audio Accessory Kit will be available in February. The audio player costs USD299.99 while the accessory kit is priced at USD59.99.
